Sara Spohnheimer Artist's Statement

Primarily an oil painter, I have become known for my luminous, award-winning, nighttime architectural scenes. As an antidote to these works demanding rigorous attention, I paint more expressionistic mythological/archetypal imagery, watercolors, and fun vignettes from everyday life. When not painting, I take photographs or write poems in calligraphy. My desire is for my work to communicate connection, wholeness, and appreciation for the experience of being alive on this planet.
